Brent futures were down 46 cents to $62.07 a barrel by 1512 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 30 cents to $58.91 a barrel.
“The recent gains in the Brent/WTI spread have been largely underpinned by the technical nature of the market...we have worked through the supply and demand fundamentals of the last two years or so but some of the recent upside momentum has been very strong and now we are seeing some of that unwind,” said Bob Yawger, director of energy futures at Mizuho in New York.
“So prices are coming off the highs and volumes of buying are coming off to a bit,” he said. (Reporting by Devika Krishna Kumar in Bangalore; Editing by Sonali Paul)Rep.
